KUVAG – Just Married
Our customer developed a remote-controlled SF6-insulated load-break switch, which is installed in three-phase 36kV networks and has the function of automatically disconnecting part of the network in case of faults, thus increasing power availability for consumers. This load break switch is also especially used in difficult climatic conditions such as sandstorms, salt near the sea, ice, snow, high altitude or high industrial pollution. The operating temperature can range from -50°C to +55°C, which presents special challenges for the bushings used.
SF6-insulated switch-disconnector
In addition to the usual quality criteria such as long-term tightness to prevent the escape of SF6 gas, outstanding electrical performance and high hydrophobicity of the surfaces for more than 30 years, a special robustness of the feedthroughs is required. KUVAG meets all these requirements in a special way by drawing on its broad in-house technology portfolio. Thus, after an initial potting with epoxy resin and corresponding surface activation, a second potting with highly hydrophobic LSR silicone takes place. Manufacturing the product in an integrated process at KUVAG guarantees fast turnaround times and the flexibility required for large-scale projects. KUVAG relies on proven high-quality materials and raw materials – for example, the epoxy resin formulation used was selected from the currently available pool of over 80 formulations.
Last but not least, we were also able to convince our customer in this project through attractive pricing thanks to integrated processes. We are pleased about another contribution of KUVAG to secure the availability and efficiency of power supply for many end consumers even in remote regions.
